This week marked the finish of our first marathon. Not literally, but that’s how it felt as we pushed hard the last two weeks to finish the art and storylines for the last 5-7 pages of our book.
So I now have great pleasure in announcing:
A full draft of our book is now complete!! What began almost four years ago in concept is now fully developed! The book was originally envisioned as a collaboration between me (John) and an amazing artist/friend, but over time our whole family became involved.
Last week I was at the Shepherds Conference in Los Angeles and had the opportunity to speak to a number of publishers about our book and show off a short sample.
In preparation for the visit, we worked hard to finalize and polish two chapters: Tell the Truth and Wait Patiently. We found an online vendor print the booklets and waited excitedly for the first printed samples to arrive. They came the week before the conference and were a disaster!
Most families drive around at Christmas-time looking at all the lights. But if you drive around Murrieta for very long, you’ll notice that there are big white stars painted on certain neighborhood streets. Those stars mark the place where Murrieta sends a sleigh each year. And most every year as a family, we completely forget about it.
And then, while eating dinner or enjoying a fire, we hear the siren blare on the street, signaling that the sleigh has arrived.
What a great question!! When our oldest daughter was 4, we began looking for books on Christian character and we found practically nothing. There are some amazing books on the gospel, the Bible, the story of the Old Testament and the life of Jesus. But we struggled to find anything age-appropriate to talk about honesty and obedience and patience.
By the time our next daughter was turning 4, we had resolved to write a book on godly character for girls, ages 4 to 8.
We are thrilled that The Godly Princess book has an online presence! Thank you for visiting our site. Check out our memory verse videos for kids. And use them to help your kids learn what it means to obey and not complain.
Be looking next week for a project status report and a fun coloring page to come out via our newsletter. If you’re not signed up yet, join today!
